The steel on that ship was wilted by a Directed Energy Weapon; superheating and/or jellification caused by DEW is what both caused and allowed so much of the structural steel to radically warp and bend without any stress cracking whatsoever. A Directed Energy Weapons (DEW) Attack fully describes all known evidence, including all anomalies.
